During her formative years, she served in several roles at her home church, Gum Springs C.M.E. Church in Douglassville, TX. She held positions on the Junior Stewardess Board, Usher Board, Trustee Board and Board of Christian Education. She was elected Chairperson of the Adult Stewardess Board at age 18 and also carried out duties as Sunday School Superintendent and Youth and Young Adult Director.

Throughout the span of her ministry, Rev. Casteel has pastored three churches and currently serves as the Presiding Elder of the Greenville-Texarkana District in the 8th Episcopal District. She has held this position for over ten years with exceptional results and leadership. She is currently working on her Doctorate in Ministry from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University.
